User Actions Allowed on a Match Impact
Templates generated from a Reference Manual may need to be updated when a new version of the Reference Manual is released.
FieldLogs performs a process called Screening that compares the new version of the Reference Manual with the current Active version and highlights all the changes.
A change detected by the Screening process is called a Hit or a Match Impact.
Updating a Template from a Hit discusses how a Template is updated by a Match Impact. When the Screening process identifies a Template as being impacted, a new version of it must be initiated in order for it to be available for updation.
This page discusses all the actions that can be performed on such a Template that is available for updation.

On a Match Impact, click

The content of the manual is displayed. Clicking the content lists the available actions that can be performed on the Template.


The user can perform the following actions on the Template after initiating the new version.
Search for Selection.
Use as Step Title.
Add Picture to Step
Update Step Effectivity.
Update File References.
Add File to Step.
You can select some text from the Match Impact and search through the Template for matching Steps.

The Search tab of the Property Pane opens with the list of steps that match the selected reference as seen below.

The Template Author can edit the Step by clicking the Step Editor icon.

You can use some text from the Match Impact as a Step Title.
To use text from the Match Impact as a Step Title:
Select the Step of the Template to which you would like to add a title.
Select the text from the Match Impact which you would like to use as a title for a Step. In the below example, the text selected is highlighted in blue. From the Actions menu, select Use as Step Title for Step as shown.
The selected text replaces the title of the Step as shown below.
You can add a picture identified by the Match Impact to a Step of the Template.
To add picture to a Step:
Select the Step of the Template to which you would like to add a picture.
Right Click a picture from the Match Impact. From the Actions menu, select
for the Step as shown.The picture is added to the Step as shown below.
If the Match Impact has identified a change to the Step Effectivity of a Step, that Step in the Template can be updated with the new Step Effectivity.
Right Click the Step Effectivity change highlighted by the Match Impact. From the Actions menu, select
for the Step as shown.
A confirmation dialog appears as shown below. Click
to update the Step Effectivity.![]() |
The Step Effectivity of the selected Step is updated as shown below.

Bulk Update Step Effectivities
You can also update the Step Effectivity for all Steps in the Template with a single click. In the Hits Tab , click as shown.

Note
We recommend that you select the Step impacted by the Effectivity change and then click
.only updates Step level and Template level Effectivity. It does not update the Effectivity in tables, graphics and inline Step text.

The Step Effectivities of all Steps highlighted by the Match Impact are updated. The Template Effectivity is also updated.
A Template may have links to files. Note that in the figure below, the Step has a link to a file. Clicking on
displays the file as shown.
If a Template has links to a file, sometimes a Match Impact may highlight new file references. Note that in the figure below, the filename of the files are different.
Click
, to update a file reference in your Template.
A confirmation dialog appears as shown below. Click

The file reference is updated with the new reference as shown below.

You can add a file identified by the Match Impact to a Step of the Template.
To add a file to a Step:
Select the Step of the Template to which you would like to add a file to.
Click the Match Impact. From the Actions menu, select
for the Step as shown.The file is added to the Step.
