Validating a step

For more information about the controls used in FieldLogs, Controls.

The validation behavior is different depending on the type of the step.

Free text

  1. Tap on Enter text.

  2. Enter your message.

    Note

    When you enter text, you have the following options:

    Cancel

    Close the keyboard without validating.

    Clear

    Clear the content of the step.

    Expand

    Expand the text zone. Expand opens the options Collapse and Shortcuts.

    Collapse

    Collapse the text zone.

    Shortcuts

    Open a list of pre-defined texts to add to the step. You can save what you write to add it to your private text shortcuts.

    QRCode

    Scan a QR Code and add the result to the text.

  3. Tap on done

    The step is validated.

Yes/No/NA

Select one of the following answers: Yes, No or N/A.

The step is validated.

Multi-choice

  1. Tap on Select answer(s).

    A list of answers opens.

  2. Select one answer.

    The step is validated.

Multi-check

  1. Tap on Select answer(s).

    A list of choices opens.

  2. Select one or several answers.

  3. Tap on Done.

    The step is validated.

Note

If you want to add an answer, tap on the step again.

Check

Tap on the checkbox.

The step is validated.

Note

To uncheck, open the contextual menu and tap on Uncheck.

You can also do massive check if the design of the template allows it.

Date/Time

  1. Tap on Enter date & time.

  2. Scroll the calendar to select a date and a time.

    If you tap on Now, the current date is selected.

  3. Tap on Done.

    The step is validated.

Numeric

  1. Tap on Enter value.

  2. Enter a numeric value.

  3. Tap on Done.

    The step is validated.

Note

You cannot validate the step if the value is a number that does not complies with the requirements defined in the options of the step.

Drawing

  1. Tap on Make a sketch.

  2. Select an option.

  3. Draw.

  4. Tap on Use.

    The step is validated.

Note

Tap on Close to cancel the drawing.

Signature

  1. Tap on Add signature.

    Result: A blank page opens.

  2. Draw your signature.

  3. Tap on Use.

    The step is validated.

Tap on Close to cancel.

Master Data Selector

  1. Tap on Select an answer.

    The list of answers opens.

  2. Select an answer.

    The step is validated.

Go To

Tap on Confirm location.

The system detects your location.

If your location matches the GPS coordinates, the step is validated.

If your location does not match the GPS coordinates, you can Force location to ignore your current position and validate the step anyway or you can tap on Cancel and try again later.

Important

You must allow FieldLogs to detect your location.
