Publishing a Template
After designing the Template, you can initiate the publication process. When you publish a Template, it becomes available to the members of the enterprise.
The publication process begins when you submit the Template to the enterprise. The Template then gets listed as a publication task in the tab.
The publication task moves through the steps defined in a lifecycle. The lifecycle is created in the Enterprise section. It determines the stages of the publication process and the member role responsible for performing the necessary action in each step of the process. For information on how to create or modify the lifecycle, see Creating a Lifecycle.
The publication process can be defined to have some or all of the following steps:
Initiate: In the Initiate step, the member either accepts or rejects the goal of the publication. This is an optional step.
Edit: In the Edit step, the member modifies the Template as needed. This is a required step.
Review: In the Review step, the member reviews the modifications made in the Template and either accepts or rejects them. This is an optional step.
Approve: In the Approve step, the member either approves or rejects the Template. This is an optional step.
Publish: In the Publish step, the member publishes the Template and also specifies the date from when the Template can become available to the members. This is a required step.
At each step of the publication process, the task is picked up by the member with the required role and the necessary action is performed until the Template is published.
Note
Each step of the publication process also offers a
option. In , the member can perform the necessary action without being prompted for any confirmation and the next action in the publication process is automatically picked up.Important
When you publish an imported Template that contains a component, ensure that you publish the Template in the component before publishing the entire Template.
