Competency Levels

A Competency Role is divided into many Competency Levels.

Based on the Competency Level, users will be allowed to perform different actions in the Signoff flow of a Task.

The lowest Competency Level is Level 1. It usually indicates a junior role. A higher Competency Level indicates a more senior Role.

The below example has four different Competency Levels configured under the MECH Role.

Level 1 - On-the-Job Trainee is the lowest Competency Level. A new joinee may be associated with this level.

Level 4 - Lead Mechanic is the highest Competency Level. The lead mechanic can sign off the work of an On-the-job Trainee, Junior Mechanic or a Senior Mechanic.

Signoff Flow and Competency Levels

A Template may have Task Steps that need to be Validated by the Signoff flow. While defining the Signoff flow, the Template Author can specify that only users with a certain Role can perform the Signoff.

If the Role is a Competency Role, then the Competency Level must also be specified. Only users with the specified Competency Level or higher can perform the full Signoff Validation of the Task Steps. Users with the same Role, but a lower Competency Level can only record their actions and Validate the Step with a Stamp.

In the following example, a user associated with the Level 3 - Senior Mechanic Competency Level of the MECH Role can perform a full Signoff for this Step.

When a user associated with a lower Competency Level executes the Template, the user sees a Stamp icon, CompetencyRole-Stamp.png displayed. In the following example, a user associated with Level 1 - On-the-Job Trainee will only be able to Stamp the Step to record that action has been performed on the Step.

However, when a user associated with a Competency Level equal to or higher than the defined Signoff Role executes the Template, the user sees a Sign it icon, SignoffValidate.png displayed. In the following example, a user associated with Level 3 - Senior Mechanic or Level 4 - Lead Mechanic will be able to Sign and Validate the Step.
