Recasting Components Inside a Task
A Template might have Component Steps - one or more Templates embedded into it.
If there are multiple versions of the embedded Template(s), then the user can Recast the Component to a different version.
Tip
Templates with Modules can be Recast if there is a newer version of the Module available.
However, Modules cannot be Mass Recast.
Consider a Template Battery Installation that has a Component Battery Particulars as highlighted below.
While performing a Recast on a Task of type Battery Installation, the user can choose to recast the Component Battery Particulars to a different version.
To recast a Component inside a Template:
In the Task Execution window, click .
The Template Recast dialog appears.
The green button near the Template indicates that the current version of the Template is being used. The orange button indicates that there are newer versions available. In the example, note that Battery Installation is at the current version (1.0.4), whereas Battery Particulars is at an older version (1.0.1).
Click and select the desired version of the Component.
Click .
Review the changes displayed. Click as shown.
Confirm the version of the Template to Recast.
A message box indicating that the Component has been recast to the desired version is displayed.
The Template Recast dialog now shows that both the Template Battery Installation and the Component Battery Particulars are at their latest versions.
If the Template that is Mass Recast is a Component within any Task under execution, then the Component gets recast.
In the following example, the Task Battery Installation v1.0.4 is under execution. It has a Component Battery Particulars running at version v1.0.1, which is not the current version.
The Template Author can Mass Recast all execution instances of Battery Particulars to v1.0.4.
The instance of Battery Particulars that is a Component within Battery Installation is highlighted in the list of impacted Tasks as seen below.
The user executing Battery Installation gets notified that the Component Battery Particulars has been Recast.
